The aim of this article is to analyze and frame the level of efficacy and adequacy of publicity campaigns for the prevention of drug use in Spain. To this end, the contents of the messages used by the FAD (Antidrug Foundation) in television campaigns broadcast between 1994 and 2007 have been reviewed. The content of these campaigns has also been linked to the progress and motivation of drug users, using the biannual surveys of the Ministry for Equality and Social Welfare. The results show that the discourse followed in these campaigns has no relation whatsoever with the said motivations linked with drug abuse. Consequently, a strategy is required which will have an impact on discouraging and dissuading drug users.
an, by nature and sometimes nurture, is a very inquisitive being and this aspect of him can be brought to the fore when he encounters a situation that seems mysterious or which he finds pleasurable or profiting. He is therefore open to a wide range of activities which may or may not be socially acceptable. Some of such activities which are socially unacceptable may range from those that are simply frowned upon, irritable to those that contravene both written and unwritten mores, norms and laws; In every society, therefore, human action is always viewed against the backdrop of general acceptability, especially when the outcome(s) could be positive or negative, beneficial or not, to the majority of those found in that context. When the activities voluntarily go against laid down and written laws, they are regarded as illegal and therefore, a crime. For this reason, those who engage in such activities in clandestine or covert ways. While involvement in certain illegal activities may be suited to certain groups because of particular traits or characteristics (such as age, physical strength, height or gender) it is not the exclusive preserve of any group, be it male, female, young or old. For the purposes of this paper, however, our focus will be on youths. The question would also arise immediately; who is a youth?
Pre-primary education is considered by many societies and individuals to be beneficial to young children for their educational development from school-entry age. This type of education was given official recognition by the Federal Government of Nigeria in the National Policy on Education. In the policy document, provision is made for a policy on preprimary education stating its objectives and the measures to be taken by government to facilitate the achievement of the policy objectives. It also allowed for private participation in the provision of pre-primary education. This paper examines the implementation of the policy pointing out its shortcomings and some attendant problems, and the way forward.
There is an immense amount of data in the cloud database and among these data, much potential and valuable knowledge are implicit. The key point is to discover and pick out the useful knowledge, and to do so automatically. In this paper, the data model of the cloud database is analyzed. Through analyzing and classifying, the common features of the data are extracted to form a feature data set. The relationships among different areas in the data are then analyzed, from which the new knowledge can be found. In the paper, the basic data mining model based on the cloud database is defined, and the discovery algorithm is presented.
Objective: To determine the causative agents of bacteremia in children under 5 years and their susceptibility to the commonly used antibiotics. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study on children (aged from 1 day to 5 years) admitted to the paediatric ward. The patients included all newborn babies and children admitted with fever and suspected of having sepsis. All the included children were clinically diagnosed for septicemia following strict aseptic precautions and the blood sample was taken. Blood culture were done by standard method. Results: The overall incidence of bacteremia was 23.1%. The incidence of bacteremia was higher among the chidren of age group 13-60 month (38.1%) than <1 month (23.4%) and 1-12 month (12.5%). The male (25.8%) children were affected than females (19.6%).
ForgedAluminium components are used in automotive industry for the necessity to make modern vehicles lighter, safer, and more environment friendly. The trend of using forged Aluminium components is increasing. Forging temperature, forging load, rate of deformation and deformation are some of the important process parameters that influence the end forging product quality. It is thus necessary to understand their independent and combined effect on the end product quality. In this study, hot compression test on an Al- Mg-Si Aluminium alloy (6061 alloy) was performed on Gleeble- Thermo mechanical Simulator-3500 (TMS) at a 350°,400°,450° c temperatures and with 0.2 and 2 strain rates for a fixed nominal strain of a chosen value. As a result of compression tests, deformation curves were obtained. Test specimens were quenched as soon as the tests ended to preserve the resulting microstructure. Results of feasible mechanical testing and microstructure evaluation for various combination of temperature and strain rate are compared and discussed in view of possible industrial applications.
Background: Myocardial bridging is recognized as an anatomical variation of the human coronary circulation in which an epicardial artery lies in the myocardium for part of its course. Thus, the vessel is ‘bridged’ by myocardium. The possible clinical implications of myocardial bridging may vary from protection against atherosclerosis to systolic vessel compression and resultant myocardial ischemia. Materials and Methods: This study was carried out on 50 normal formalin fixed human heart specimens. Dissection was performed according to standard techniques. Percentage and distribution of myocardial bridges and its relationship with coronary artery dominance pattern of the heart were noted and documented. Results: Myocardial bridges were found in 35 (70%) of the hearts with a total of 46 bridges. Bridges were most often found over the anterior interventricular artery (28 MB), on its middle third (20 MB). Bridges were also found over the diagonal branch (4 MB) and over the left marginal branch (3 MB) branch of the left coronary artery. Out of 11MB found over the right coronary artery, 5 MB was found over the first segment and 6 MB over the posterior interventricular branch of the right coronary artery. Twenty seven (77.1%) of the hearts with bridges were right dominant. Six hearts (17.1%) were left dominant. Conclusion: This study will serve to understand the presence and distribution of the myocardial bridges in the heart and its relation with dominance of heart. The possibility of myocardial bridges should be borne in mind in individuals with ischemia but no evidence of coronary atherosclerosis.
Background: Variations in the formation of brachial plexus and in the course of its branches are not as uncommon as was once thought. Anatomical knowledge of the variations about formation, course, termination of median and musculocutaneous nerve is extremely important in surgical exploration and administration of neuromuscular blocks in axillary region. This awarenesshelpful while planning reconstructive flap surgeries and treatment of fracture of humerus. Materials and Methods: This study was carried out on 40 normal formalin fixed upper limb specimens of 20 cadavers. Dissection was performed according to standard techniques. Variation in the origin, course, branching pattern, termination and relationship between median and musculocutaneous nerve were noted and documented. Results: In the present study, out of 40 specimens absence of musculocutaneous nerve was noted in 5% of the limbs. In those 5% limbs median nerve showed variation in origin, course and termination. Conclusion: This study will serve to understand the anatomical relationship between median and musculocutaneous nerve and it will help in various surgical procedures done on upper limb.
Eugène Delacroix was always a lover of opera and theater. One of his most admired opera composers was Gioacchino Rossini. This article delves into the operatic and theatrical iconography of Delacroix, about "Othello", based on the original work of Shakespeare and the eponymous opera by Rossini and his librettist, Berio. We have also consulted the "Diaries", as they were the original documents of the French painter. The analyzed pictures are “Desdemona cursed by her father" and "Otello and Desdemona." Finally, we have risked venturing into a general view of both Delacroix’s oils on canvas.
