Global

The evolution and improvisation of globally distributed work teams (GDWT) over the past 20 years has been the key enabler for the stellar growth of the Indian IT industry. Global software outsourcing has created a workforce that operates across geographical boundaries of place and time. The Indian software industry has a competitive advantage which includes availability of qualified and talented manpower at low costs as compared to other developing economies (Budhwar, Luthar, & Bhatnagar, 2006a; Budhwar, Varma, Singh, & Dhar, 2006b).
We have developed a special computing code for calculation of nuclear quadrupole moments versus deformation parameter β. For some even-even isotopes, it has been seen that by increasing neutron number, deformation parameter also increase, which means more deformation from spherical shape.
Accounting information is a part and parcel of today’s life which is necessary to understand the accurate financial situation of the organization and used as the basis of making strategic decisions. Since strategic decisions have long-term effect on the business and therefore it is important to analyze accounting information for making long-term strategic decisions. The present study is an endeavor to evaluate the usage of accounting information by the decision makers in practices in strategic decision areas. Five strategic decision areas such as basic strategic decision, manufac-turing decision, human resource decision, long term invest-ment decision and marketing decision were considered for the study. The results of the study prove that there is significant relationship between accounting information and strategic decisions and strategic decisions in all the selected areas significantly depend on accounting information and it is also observed from the analysis of the opinion of the respondents that 44.44% of the respondents always use accounting information in making strategic decision in manufacturing industries in Bangladesh.
This article is based on the research on utilization and interoperability of ChineseXBRL taxonomy elements, focusing on the improvement of the insufficient XBRL taxonomy elements. The authors believe that increase the number of XBRL taxonomy elements can enhance the interoperability of financial reports and accuracy of compiling XBRL software elements.
In this study, a maximum likelihood supervised classification and post – classification change detection techniques were applied to Land Sat images acquired in 1986, 2002 and 2012 respectively to map Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Akure changes in Ondo state, Nigeria. The study employed surpervised digital image classification method using ILWIS 3.2, Arcview 3.1 GIS software and classified the Landuse into Built-up Area, Bareland, Dense forest, Exposed soils, Gallery Forest, Light Forest, Forest Reserve and Rock out crops. The results obtained shows that the Built-up area has been growing rapidly for the periods (1986-2012). The result also shows increase in the Bareland and Rock-outcrop between 2002 and 2012 while dense forest, forest reserves, Gallery forest and light forest decreased rapidly for the period (1986-2012). Adopting exponential growth formulae, the rate of change for projecting spatial expansion and landuse types and project the growth and landuse of Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Akure to year 2032. These results could help the city planners and policy makers to attain and sustain future urban and institutional development.
The resilient response of corporate objectives of most firms to the applied strategies, resulting in customers’ dissatisfaction and non realization of firms’ corporate financial goals, warranted this study. The study examined holistic service marketing strategies concepts. The conceptualized holistic service marketing strategy variables are interactive/integrated, internal and external/relationship strategies while technology is the moderating variable. Firms’ corporate objectives variables are customers’ satisfaction, measured by service quality, market share, return on owners’ investment, customers’ loyalty and profitability. Sample size was determined using Taro Yeman’s formula. Demographic and primary data were obtained through interview and from questionnaire administered to four hundred (400) respondents made up of customers and staff of five service firms namely: banks, electric power companies, Insurance firms, Petrol stations and Gas companies located in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt; through cluster sampling method. Pilot survey and Cronbach’s Alpha were used to confirm the validity and reliability of the study respectively and their variables of measures. Four (4) hypotheses were tested using Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient(r), multiple regression and partial correlation analyses to determine the strength of relationships and the effects of moderating variable respectively. Consequently the following major findings among others were obtained: (1) there was positive and significant relationship between holistic service marketing strategy and customers’ satisfaction. (2) There was positive and significant relationship between customers’ satisfaction and profitability with technology moderating them. We conclude that only holistic service marketing strategies could guarantee sustainable customers’ satisfaction and in turn realize corporate objectives. We recommend among others that firms should adopt holistic service marketin
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen, frequently associated with nosocomial infections worldwide. Multiple drug resistance has been reported in previous studies against pathogenic P. aeruginosa and the biofilm which makes use of antibiotics futile. Bacteriophages specific for P. aeruginosa can prove to be a new therapeutic approach for controlling infections and biolfilm contamination against this pathogen. The aim of our study was to isolate and partially characterize virulent phage specific for P. aeruginosa from sewage water. Different parameters of which make phages as suitable candidate towards future therapeutics were also investigated. Phages having lytic life cycle, high burst size and thermally more stable proposed themselves as effective therapeutic candidates. In this study, a virulent phage was isolated from sewage water having burst size of 1036 and latent period of 21 minutes. This phage has narrow host range and shows the remarkable thermal resistance and is viable up to 60 ºC. Sincere efforts in term of identification, isolation, purification and characterization of multiple types of phages against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ; and development of cocktail with pool of lytic phages against it can prove to be a promising strategy to overcome frequent bacterial proliferation.
The quest for identity construction knew its apogee in the burgeoning Caribbean literature of the 1950’s, a period marked by a great tide of immigration to London and the exile of a significant number of West Indian writers. This exile generation of West Indian writers, including leading figures such as George Lamming, Samuel Selvon, Andrew Salkey, Edward Kamau Brathwaite, V.S Naipaul, was concerned with depicting their West Indian experience and dealing with issues revolving around liberty and identity.
The current study aims to focus on mathematical tasks for students’ mathematical literacy and problem solving literacy. Excerpts are presented from dynamic hypothetical learning paths [DHLP]s and students’ learning progression. The excerpts center around activities aimed to develop the students’ geometrical thinking through the development of their ability to solve real-world problems. The students cooperated in class or worked individually to represent the images using their static or dynamic means and tools (e.g. compass and ruler, a computing environment, interactive boards, dynamic geometry software). My further aim was the students to utilize transformation processes for representations by instrumentally decoding their ideas on static and dynamic objects. An important role for the students’ cognitive development was the design of propositions and theorems (e.g the Pythagorean Theorem), through Linking Visual Active Representations (LVAR). Especially for the latter option an essential role has played the dynamic geometry software, Geometer’s Sketchpad. Furthermore, the paper provides examples that contain rich mathematical material; therefore, student’s mathematical modeling through instrumental decoding of mathematical ideas is the means of reinforcing students’ conceptual knowledge.
The study investigated the effects of age, parents and teachers attitude towards aggressive and non aggressive anti social behavior of adolescents. Relevant literature that investigated the main variables of the study were examined as a theoretical bases for the study. Three hypotheses were developed as measures to examine the data that were collected for the study. A self made questionnaire titled Antisocial Behaviour Scale (ABS) was developed for the study and has content validity and reliability of 0.85. This indicated that the instrument was reliable for the study. It was administered to 100 students after a simple random sampling technique was employed. The response to the questionnaire were summarized and computed using multiple regression to test for relationship between age, parents and teachers attitude on aggressive and non-aggressive anti-social behaviour of adolescents. The study found that age, parents and teachers attitude had a significant relationship on aggressive and non-aggressive anti-social behaviour of adolescents. Recommendations were also made.
