Stock markets have long played an important role in economic life (Stijn, V. N., Frans, B., Ludo, C., 2006). The objective of this study is to explore the presence of a causal relationship between stock market development and economic growth in Sri Lanka. Sample period uses annual time series data over the period from 1990 to 2013. To address this relationship, a Granger Causality Test was employed. Nominal GDP values are used as a proxy for economic growth, and market capitalization ratio (MCR) is used as a proxy for stock market development. The results of this study support that the stock market performance plays a major role in economic growth in Sri Lanka.
Every year the football industry moves, worldwide, a value between $ 400 billion and $ 1 trillion. This denotes the high economic potential of the football market. This is a complex market because teams need to use cooperation strategies with their rivals, to optimize the production of football. The objective of this study is to analyze the factors affecting the performance of clubs in the Brazilian championship, both in sports, as in the financial domain. It is a quantitative study of descriptive and explanatory nature with secondary database. One pooled logit was used to estimate the probability of sports and financial success. The results showed that the participation of clubs in international competitions increases the odds of sporting and financial success; the permanence of players between seasons also increases the chances of success.
The football industry comprises a wide range of sectors, aimed acquire inputs, transform them and distrubute one. Considering this chain, this paper seeks to identify factors that determine the demand for football matches in Brazil and England. Secodary data were used from IBGE, Office for National Statistics (ONS), CBF, Pluri Consultoria, BBC Sports Survey and from the site World football, throughout web. The survey makes an analyse since the 380 matches occured in brazilian and english championship, 2013 season. To estimate the demand equation the Two Least Square Stage model was utilized. The model had as dependente variable the attendance in the stadiums. Economics, structurals factors and match quality were signifcants to explain the demand in Brazil and England. By forming prices, english team are more eficiente than brazilian one.
The authors present two different models to better understand and analyze the recent Libor scandal. These models can be applied generally to other rate-setting processes and can be used by policymakers and regulators to effectively monitor benchmarks for manipulation
Though the decisions are imposed by the policy makers, in a teaching context like Bangladesh; it is the teachers who deal with the actual classroom scenario. In spite of that the voice of the teachers is little heard. Action research can be an effective way to make their voices heard. The purpose of the present paper is to show the importance of action research in secondary school level and at the same time finding out how familiar our teachers are with it. Stating the problems, relating the significance and stating the objectives in the introduction, the study delves into a detailed review of the literature. Following the literature review is the actual study conducted. Through a qualitative, gradually turning into quantitative methodology the study reveals its findings. The study ends with some relative recommendations along with a concluding remark.
The pharmaceutical industry is one of the thrust sectors of the economy of Bangladesh. Here, in this report I evaluate how individual players or the companies under review for this report namely Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Ambee Pharmaceuticals, Square Pharmaceuticals and Renata Pharmaceuticals are performing individually and the impact on their portfolio performance when they combine to form a portfolio. While doing this I also evaluate whether the effects of diversification hold for this sector. To evaluate portfolio performance, I used common measures such as Sharpe ratio and M-Squared. To perform all these, I had to calculate the standard deviation and returns of the individual assets over a four year period, along with calculating the covariances between their returns. Based on these calculations, I estimated the standard deviation and returns of the portfolio constructed. To check the effects of diversification and to calculate the ratios these data were used.
The integral-abutment bridge (IAB) concept was developed at least as far back as the 1930s to solve long-term structural problems that can occur with conventional bridge designs. Due to limited funding sources for bridge maintenance, it is desirable to establish strategies for eliminating joints as much as possible and converting/retrofitting bridges with troublesome joints to jointless design. IABs or jointless bridges have many advantages over full height abutment. They eliminate expansion joints in bridge superstructures and simplify design, detailing, and construction. Despite the recognized benefits, the behavior of such structures is not yet fully understood, and nationally adopted design criteria are still lacking.
This research emphasizes, in a clearer and more differentiating way, the motives or the incentives of the use of the Internet Technologies (IT) by the managers of SME. It is to this problem of the use of the IT in the companies that this communication contributes, via two studies carried out with the managers of the SME Tunisians situated in the regions of big Tunis and Sahel, a quantitative and qualitative study. The results obtained from a qualitative study show globally that the use of the IT within the Tunisian SME is determined by the entrepreneurial and environmental factors. The obtained results, for the method of the structural equations, validate the proposed model by highlighting the entrepreneurial and environmental factors.
Drug is a substance that brings about a change in the biological functions through its chemical actions. Drug losartan are the first marketed beta blockers of the angiotensin II-type (AT1) receptor. It is the prototypic ARB. Their pharmacologic effect are very similar to the ACE inhibitors, because they also produce the arteriolar and venous dilation and block aldosteron secretion, thus lowers the blood pressure, decreases the salt and water retention. Its chemical name is losartan potassium. It is indicated in mild to severe hypertension and contraindicated in pregnancy because it increases teratogenic risk and may leads to mal formation or death of fetus. It is light yellow solid and stable under recommended storage conditions, freely soluble in water and soluble in alcohol. Losartan inhibit the binding of angiotensin II to type 1 in tissue (kidney and adrenal gland) losartan and its active metabolite is more potent then losartan inhabitation causes vasodilation and decreases sodium and water retention. The aim of study is to determine the %age assay of losartan potassium of different brands.
