Global

Over the last few decades, the global business environment has been changing rapidly, especially after the computer revolution. The world is now a global village. Apart from technological advances, the successful completion of a project often depends upon HR activities. This study is conducted to compare the Muslim culture and Western culture in the light of the experience of expatriates. Many expatriates fail in their international assignments in Muslim countries. Research will find out why, in spite of training, expatriates are failing in international assignments. 350 Questionnaires were distributed among workers; 235 questionnaires are validated. These workers are from different countries, especially western countries and working or have worked in different Muslim countries e.g. Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan. The research results are limited to a few Muslim countries and may not give an overall picture of the Muslim world. It has been observed in the results that expatriates failure occurred because of cultural reasons. The expatriates and their families are facing cultural problems. In spite of training, a lack of essential knowledge about Muslims is missing in few expatriates.
In the global world the competition in the business sector motivates the companies to pursue the goal of increasing the competitive advantage and keeping the constant growth. Marketing professionals state that a modern company has to create and support a long-term relationship with its buyers. This relationship will safeguard the company from losing its market share and the kept loyal buyers will also increase the revenue as keeping the old buyers is a lot cheaper than attracting the new ones. After the literature analysis it is clear that the definition of the loyalty is unambiguous despite the research that lasted over three decades. The academicians state that the definiton of loyalty is separated into three groups. The newest one states that the loyal buyer is the one who buys certain goods or services repeatedly and recommends the mentioned to the friends or colleagues. A loyal buyer is also tied to the company through a long-term relationship. Most buyers would like to have a better service quality. Second biggest desire is the price. The third criteria is cash registers without any queues. The fourth group desires a better parking lot. All in all, these criterias suggest that the buyer wants an easier, faster and more comfortable buying experience.
A study was conducted to assess the effect of drying methods and pre-treatments on shelf-life and microbial quality of dried fish. The experiment was conducted in factorial arrangement of 2×3×2 with two drying methods (sun and oven drying,) three fish species (tilapia, cat fish and carp) and two preservatives treatment (garlic and ginger juice) laid out in Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Fresh fillets were analyzed for their microbiological quality. Drying reduced the moisture contents making it safe for long term storage. The dried fillets were stored at ambient condition and the samples were analyzed for microbial status every twenty days starting from the end of drying operation. Fresh fillet and untreated dry fillet were used as control. In the fresh fillets, a high load of aerobic bacteria of 5.11 log10 cfu/g was observed on carp, and E.coli was detected in all three species whereas no Salmonella spp.
Purpose: In defining the biological effects ofthe 10B (n,α)7 Li neutron capturereaction, we have proposeda deterministic parsing model (ISHIYAMA-IMAHORI model) to determine the Compound Biological Effectiveness (CBE) factor in Borono-Phenyl-Alanine (BPA)-mediated Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). In present paper, we the case of application to actual patient data, which is founded on this model for tissuesandtumor. Method: To determine the CBE factor, we demonstrate a specific method of howthe application of derived the following new calculation formula founded onthe deterministic parsing model with three constants, CBE0, F, n and the eigen value Nth/Nmax.
Prevalence of communicable diseases, which account for millions of school lost days a year, among secondary school students in Kisumu County is unknown. The number of secondary schools with school health facilities is unknown, and there is no indication from Kenya’s Health Sector Strategic Plan, 2012-2017 that establishment of school health facilities will be given priority as an intervention. The overall objective of this study was to examine causes of variability in communicable disease prevalence rates among secondary schools in Kisumu County, Kenya. In order to achieve the overall objective, the following were the specific objectives: to determine prevalence rates of communicable diseases among secondary students in Kisumu County; to determine the cause of variability in communicable disease prevalence rates among students; and to evaluate public health intervention programs for optimal use in secondary schools. Survey, Correlational and Evaluation research designs were used for the three objectives respectively.
Learning Management Systems (LMS) are webbased systems which allow instructors and students to share materials and interact online. This study examines pre-service teachers’ perception towards the integration of LMS into their instruction. The study adopted a descriptive research design using simple survey method. The samples were drawn from five faculties, totaling nine hundred and fifty-four (954) preservice teachers of Adeyemi University of Education, Ondo. Data collected were analyzed using t-test and Pearson Correlation to determine relationship between variables and the level of significance set at 0.05. Findings from the study based on the variables (gender, age level of study and department) has shown that pre-service teachers have a positive perception to the integration of LMS into their instruction and if it’s used effectively, it will increase the efficiency of the educational process, decrease the amount face-to-face instruction and strengthen self-study and thus develop student’s learning competences.
Supporting multimedia application over wireless networks poses multiple challenges. Currently the use of cross layer architectures and Scalable Video Coding ( ) techniques are considered to support multimedia applications. The current architectures fail to address the tradeoff that exists between the end to end delay and the Quality of Service ( ) provisioning of the video data to be delivered. To address this issue this paper introduces the improvement scheme in video transmission model based on a cross layer architecture. A novel encoding of the SVC video is considered in the proposed model. Based on the physical layer conditions and the achievable the model adapts to meet the stringent delay requirements of video delivery. Routing layer optimization is achieved by accounting for the pending packets queues in every neighboring node. The experimental study conducted prove the robustness of the proposed model by comparing with the existing schemes. Comparisons in terms of the transmission error rates, system utility and quality of reconstruction are presented.
In present era, media fragmentation and proliferation has directed advertisers’ interest in developing more effective ways to communicate with consumers. So they are moving with the new concept of promotion named product placement. In this paper, researchers try to study the impact of movie genre, product placement type, and viewer gender on audiences’ recall of brand placed in movies in order to know which one gets more attention and more attraction for buying behaviour. This study uses experimental design and comprises samples of 137 students enrolled in MBA course, who watch hindi movies. The research was conducted with three hindi movies and respondents’ were asked to recall brands placed in these movies after watching video clips. Data has been collected by the use of questionnaire. This research paper has implications for both academicians and practitioners which include the advertising agency people, the media planners, the brand managers, the movie scriptwriters and producers for developing strategies to increase the use of product placement as a tool for brand communications. Findings suggest that product placed in prominent mode has higher brand recall than product placed in subtle mode. Further it reveals that automobile products are highly recognized products among other products placed in selected hindi movies.
A non-parametric discriminant analysis (projection pursuit by principal component analysis) is discussed and used to compare three robust linear discriminant functions that are based on high breakdown point (of location and covariance matrix ) estimators. The major part of this paper deals with practical application of projection pursuit by principal component. In this study 10 simulated data sets that are binomially distributed and a real data set on the yield of two different progenies of palm tree were used for comparisons. From the findings we concluded that the non-parametric procedure (projection pursuit by principal component) have the highest predictive power among other procedures we considered. S-estimator performed better than the other two estimators when real data is considered, while MCD estimator performed better than MWCD estimator.
Choanal polyps are the solitary benign tumours that originate from the sinus or nasal mucosa projecting into the nasal cavity and even up to the oropharynx. The exact aetiology of choanal polyps is unknown. Several theories have been formulated in the past years to describe the aetiology of choanal polyps. It is more commonly seen in young age patients. In young patients with a history of unilateral progressive nasal obstruction, it is always necessary to rule out choanal polyp. Although antrochoanal polyps are the most common, it is not a rule. Choanal polyp can also originate from sphenoid sinus and ethmoidal sinus, nasal septum and lateral wall of nose. Rare cases of these presentations are also reported. Endoscopy assisted surgery is the treatment of choice. Endoscopy can also be used as a diagnostic guide when CT scan findings are inconclusive in differentiating antrochoanal and sphenochoanal polyp. One must also keep in mind the other possible differential diagnosis.
