Global

Sustainable Development Policies and Measures (SD-PAMs) have been identified as a possible means through which developing nations can contribute to the global climate change mitigation and adaptation effort. Nigeria being an oil producing nation derives up to 70% of her revenue from the petroleum industry but the gas sector has not be given the necessary attention until recently resulting to both economic and environmental lost via gas flaring or what is called fugitive gas. This natural gas being flared has the potential of putting to an end the epileptic electricity situation in the country, if well harnessed and managed. Nigeria ranks second in the World in terms of total volume of gas being flared, but according to World Bank 2007 report, there was a remarkable reduction of about 10 BCM of gas flaring in Nigeria between 1996 and 2005, about the same period that Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) and some Independent Power Project that utilizes natural gas was commissioned. The NLNG has being a source of revenue for government and provides jobs for the teeming youth of the restive Niger- Delta area. Strong political in the form of sustainable development policies and measures will to put an end to gas flaring and well structure national gas master plan that focus on meeting local demand is still required for optimum economic and environmental gains to be achieved.
Resent years have witnessed development of protein- based therapeutic agent as the main focus of biotechnology industry. Progress made in biotechnology, genomics and combinatorial chemistry have led to the discovery of a wide variety of active moiety for specific therapeutics application. However, the common problems associated with these active moieties such as poor stability, low solubility, high potency etc, have paved way for developing a new method of drug delivery system. Considerable attention was made for the development of new drug delivery technology in recent research. The reason for developing a new drug delivery system is to apply in some clinical situations, where a constant drug delivery rate is insufficient, like delivery of insulin for patients with diabetes mellitus, gastric acid inhibitors for ulcer control, anti arrhythmic for patients with heart rhythm disorders, nitrates for patients with angina pectoris, birth control, immunization, cancer chemotherapy, selective β-blockade and general hormone replacement. The treatment for these clinical conditions could be optimized through the use of a novel delivery system (NDDS) (1). For delivering genetically engineered pharmaceuticals like peptides and proteins to the site of action, without incurring biological inactivation, need new system of delivery. Targeting the active moiety for better therapeutic efficacy can improve patient compliance by reducing the size and number of doses. Over the past decades major development were made in systemic delivery of protein and peptides by oral, transdermal and pulmonary routes (2-3).
This research study established the impact of the integration of text-messaging in Mathematics teaching-learning process. This one shot design study employed the Pre-Post Test method of investigation. After the students took the Pre-Test, the integration of text-messaging in the teaching-learning process was done for two weeks. At the end of the two-week allotment of the lesson, the students took the Post-Test and were surveyed on their attitude towards the integration of text-messaging. It was found out that the Post-Test result is higher than the Pre- Test result (Alpha 0.05). Furthermore, the students “agreed” on the integration of text-messaging in the teaching-learning process.
Objective: The objective of this study was to assess of factors affecting adherence of pediatric TB patients to anti TB drugs in Adama referral hospital. Methodology: Retrospective cross sectional study has been conducted from March 19th to May 20th, 2014 to assess factors affecting adherence of pediatrics TB patients to anti TB drugs in Adama referral hospital. Data collection format was used to collect data from available data sources such as patients’ medical cards and DOT registration book. Simple random sampling technique has been used in this research and data was presented in table and categorized and analyzed by using SPSS computer software package.
This paper presents the MRI brain diagnosis support system for structure segmentation and its analysis using spatial fuzzy clustering algorithm. The method is proposed to segment normal tissues such as white Matter, Gray Matter, Cerebrospinal Fluid and abnormal tissue like tumor part from MR images automatically. These MR brain images are often corrupted with Intensity Inhomogeneity artifacts cause unwanted intensity variation due to non- uniformity in RF coils and noise due to thermal vibrations of electrons and ions and movement of objects during acquisition which may affect the performance of image processing techniques used for brain image analysis.
Seismic data compression (SDC) is crucially, confronted in the oil Industry with large data volumes and Incomplete data measurements. In this research, we present a comprehensive method of exploiting wave packets to perform seismic data compression .Wave atoms are the modern addition to the collection of mathematical transforms for harmonic computational analysis. Wave atoms are variant of 2D wavelet packets that keep an isotropic aspect ratio. Wave atoms have a spiky frequency localization that cannot be attained using a filter bank based on wavelet packets and offer a significantly sparser expansion for oscillatory functions than wavelets ,curvelets and Gabor atoms.
The aim of this study was to determine the link between the employee and organizational justice job satisfaction. Privatize banks (ABL, UBL, SCB, Kasahf, Alfalah) were selected for the study and a questionnaire were distributed among the 100 bank employees. Aggregate of 53 questionnaires were obtained back with the feedback of 53%. The results showed that distributive justice has optimistic and substantial control on job satisfaction. This study also exposed that procedural justice has major indirect relationship with job contentment. Practical level of Organizational justice can be enhanced the level of job satisfaction.
On the one hand, the Sino-Indian border war, Sino- Soviet hostile relations and the US-China rivalry and on the other hand, Pak-India enmity, Pak-Soviet hostility and Pakistan’s disillusionment with the US brought China and Pakistan closer to each other. China was in struggle to get membership in United Nations where the Western powers were blocking its way and Taiwan was allowed to be a Chinese nation representative. In 1960s, Pakistan abandoned its policy of following the West and voted for Communist China in the UN. China too refrained from its policy of neutrality regarding Indo-Pak issues and openly started to support Pakistan on Kashmir issue. Beijing supported Islamabad in its war with New Delhi. China condemned Indian aggression against Pakistan and appreciated the Kashmiri freedom fighters in their struggle from Indian illegal occupation. This paper covers discussion and analysis on China’s seat in UN, Kashmir issue and Indo-Pak war of 1965.
Children’s nutritional status is a reflection of their overall health. Malnutrition is associated with more than half of all children deaths worldwide. A study into geographical variability of nutritional status of children in Nigeria was observed from geo statistical mapping and a continuous covariates stunting (height for age) that exhibit pronounced non-linear relationships with the response variable was analysed. To properly account for stunting effects on child’s age, sex, their place of resident, mothers’ educational levels, parents’ wealth index, regions and state of the child, kriging and additive models were merged using modified Cox model. The resulting Generalized Additive Mixed Model (GAMM) representation for the geo additive model allows for fitting and analysis using BayesX software. The Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey 3 (MICS3) data set contains several variables. Only those that are believed to be related to nutritional status were selected. All categorical covariates are effect coded. The child’s age is assumed to be nonlinear; the state is spatial effect while other variables are parametric in nature.
Researching the possibilities for fixture design aided by computers has been in the sphere of interest of a number of authors worldwide for a longer period. Research results have led to the precise and systematised knowledge on the possibilities offered by computer application in fixture design process. The paper emphasises the importance of fixture design automation. It presents a general structure of the automated design system with a special highlight on the fixture design systems and their main characteristics. It also shows a structure and a part of output results of the automated modular fixture design system. Finally, the reached conclusions are presented with the expected directions of future researches. In industrial ergonomics a manipulator is a lift assist device used to help workers lift, maneuver and place articles in process that are too heavy, too hot, large or otherwise too difficult for a single worker to manually handle.
